Our Salt Lake Trip--Part 3---Hogle Zoo

The next morning we woke up, had some breakfast at the hotel, and then headed to Hogle Zoo! This was the reason for our trip. We had came with Peter and Andrew when they were younger and seemed like it was time to go again!
Julia fell asleep before we even got into the zoo! She was exhausted from all the fun that not sleeping in your own bed entails.

The first animal we encountered was a Turkey!! First time for me to see one with all the feathers on it!
We then saw this owl, that turned his head around just for us!

We then got to pet a lizard! Peter was so excited!

This was by the Elephant Exhibit! It makes noises and will even spray out it nose! The kids really liked it! Except for Matthew...it was a little scary to sit on it without Daddy.

The kids loved this cheap sunglasses that I got them!

I think I got Peter mid "It's too bright!"

Next up was a bird show!
The birds actually flew right over your head!

They loved it!!!

After the bird show, we headed back to the elephants. The small one was a brand new baby two years ago. They are in the process of hopefully having another baby on the way.

Examining the size of an elephant's skull!

Monkeys are always a big hit and these ones were a lot of fun to see jumping around and making crazy noises!

We attempted to see everyone's favorite animal...The monkeys were Andrew's and the Giraffes were mine.

Peter really wanted to see the wolves!

While studying the wolves, Anthony was surprised by a bird doing its umm.. business... on his head! The boys thought it was hilarious! I  tried really hard not to laugh but I just couldn't help it!

They just opened up a new exhibit called the Rocky Shores. They have seals, a manatee, a walrus, and a POLAR BEAR! It was so cool to see one that close! But before we could see them, we cool off in front of the mist fans!

Our last stop was a trip on the train! A family must when we go to the zoo!

Before everyone leaves they have to try out the huge ball!

We decided that it was too hot and muggy to head straight back to the hotel. We detoured to A&W's where we indulged in yummy root beer floats!

Then back to the hotel for another swimming in the pool!

Oh my gosh, a polar bear?! That is so awesome!

And that pic of Matthew's grin is priceless -- I love it!
